FA Premier League
Aston Villa v Arsenal

Original members of the Football League, Aston Villa are one of the great English clubs, even if recent years have left the trophy cabinet bare. Villa Park has a history that reflects this clubs tradition, used for numerous FA Cup Semi Finals on a regular basis.

The stadium has adapted well since the Taylor Report, retaining the uniqueness of its older Trinity Road Stand exterior while converting the vast Holte end into one of the largest all seater stands in the country.

There are plans to enlarge the capacity at Villa Park to 50,000, planning permission pending, by adding seats to the North and Trinity Road Stands (above). At currently just under 40,000, Villa Park is the 7th largest league ground in England.

STOP PRESS
It transpires that in fact the Trinity Road Stand is scheduled to be knocked down this summer of 2000. Although commercial and spectator comfort considerations are important, what price the destruction of Football history?
