AC Milan v LazioC

The most magnificant stadium I have had the privilege to visit to date! The San Siro is THE Citadel of modern day football.

Stunning on the outside, fantastic on the inside, the San Siro has no peers when it comes to its architecture and aesthetic values. Some may be more graceful, others more famous, while some may even have a larger capacirty - unofficially the San Siro has held 88,000+ - but no other stadium I have visited to date combines function and beauty to such affect. The walkways have been incorporated into the stadium fascia in such a beautiful way as to turn there functionality into aesthetic genius, both along the straights and through the forming of spirals.

Inside, 4 giant towers overlook this magnificant triple tiered fully covered fortress. One side is reduced to two tiers allowing extra sunshine to caress the usually worn pitch. This though affords a view of Milan. Different colours signify the four sides of the ground (I sat in the second tier of the orange section (two tiers only).

The San Siro is one of only a few stadia in Italy that is completely covered. Outside the ground you can see the distinctive huge red beams which support the roof, which is made from a transparent reinforced plastic like substance.

Sometimes, top clubs can be a little stand offish towards visitors, especially super-clubs who are worshipped the world over. AC milan however proved the exception. The hospitality shown to me prior to the evening kick-off by various staff at the club was truely first class and sincere. Having seen some examples of the work throughout this site, I was afforded complete access to the interior, both at ground level and throughout the various tiers and sides. I cannot thank AC Milan enough for the opportunity to create these compositions and hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
