Hamburg SV v Borussia Dortmund

The magnificent Volksparkstadion is currently the finest stadium in Germany. Rebuilt from scratch for the 2006 World Cup, part of the process involved rotating the pitch 90 degrees.

The stadium is very close to the pitch which enhances the already fervent atmosphere created by the local Hamburg fans. Two steep tiers allow an unhindered view beneath a superb tensioned membrane roof.

The stadium is situated in a greenbelt area away from the centre of the city. The city's metro system takes fans close, but an excellent free super-frequent bus service then finishes the journey.
