How do you avoid the tightness of Highbury to the surrounding streets to create a complete panoramic of the East Stand fascia? Walk into one of the many surrounding front gardens! Very necessary if you want the whole structure. A listed building, the stand is a beautiful example of Art Deco architecture from the 1930's. Its elegance and refinement is symbolic of the 'establishment' management of the club since this date. It is unclear however whether a move away from Highbury would result in the stands demolition, despite its listed status. The recent developments at Wembley show how easily history and heritage can be disgarded with barely a hint of opposition. |
